Dar es Salaam, 2nd August, 2012 … Vodacom Tanzania’s M-pesa service continues to be the bridge between individuals and agriculture and business, according to the company’s Managing Director, Rene Meza.

Speaking during this year’s Nane Nane launch, Meza mentioned that the M-pesa service is a tool which will go a long way in assisting farmers and business people as far as mobile money transfer is concerned.

“This is a service that has revolutionised our lives since its inception in 2008. There has been continued growth of M-pesa in the country, touching almost every sector of this economy, says Meza, adding that, “Through the Nane Nane exhibition, we aim to reach to farmers and other business people in order to drive M-pesa awareness through M-pesa trainings, M-pesa registration and give more emphasis on M-pesa usage on facilitating payments through payment of bills and agricultural products.”

“M-pesa has also entered into partnership with various sectors in the country, among them insurance and banking, and is no doubt a fast and safe means of conducting transactions, be it business of individual.”

Nane Nane Trade Fair is an annual harvest season exhibition event taking place within the country. During Nane Nane Trade Fair all large and small scale farmers in the regions come together and show what they are doing in terms of agriculture and business.

The eight-day event brings together all farmers and SME’s and various companies into the region for exhibition. Nane Nane fair is taking place from 01st to 08th of August in Mtwara, Lindi, Arusha, Dodoma, Morogoro and Bukoba.

During this period, individuals will be able to learn more about M-pesa services, and will also have access to ZTE phone, retailing at Tsh13000.

“Vodacom Tanzania has been participating in Nane Nane for the last ten years. We are proud of what we have managed to achieve since then, and we urge everyone to turn up in all the selected regions in order to have a glimpse of what is on offer,” concludes Meza.
