On September 29th before an audience of 70 invited guests H. E. Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Klaus-Peter Brandes and the Hon. Deputy Minister for East African Cooperation Dr. Abdallah Juma Abdallah launched a book entitled: “Processes of Legal Integration in the East African Community”.

It is the second publication by the Tanzanian-German Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Law (TGCL). The two volumes are the starting point of a new series of books which is intended to advance the dialogue and interaction between East Africa and Europe.

The East African integration process moves forward at an impressive pace and the now launched books comes at a crucial point as the EAC moves towards a political federation. Contributions of known scholars and practitioners of Tanzania and Germany discuss the history and the on-going process.

H.E. Ambassador Klaus-Peter Brandes emphasised the good relations between Germany and the EAC and the similarities between the European and the East African integration process. He expressed his belief that the integration process bears great chances for East Africa.

“The East African Community has the vision of a prosperous, competitive, secure and politically united East Africa; a vision which Germany shares and will continue to support” Hon. Deputy Minister for East African Cooperation Dr. Abdallah Juma Abdallah praised the launch of the book as a good example for the excellent cooperation between Germany and the EAC.
