Today the Government of Japan through the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP), agreed to extend grant aid of US$451,558 (approximately Tshs 713 million) to the following projects:
a. The Project for Construction of a Girls’ Hostel at Mipa Secondary School in Kishapu District, Shinyanga Region; a grant of US$74,420to Kishapu District Council.

b. The Project for Construction of a Girls’ Hostel at Namswea Secondary School in Mbinga District, Ruvuma Region; a grant ofUS$109,683to Mbinga District Council.
c. The Project for Construction of Wells at Mangaka Town in Nanyumbu District, Mtwara Region; a grant ofUS$84,400to Nanyumbu District Council.
d. The Project for Construction of a Girls’ Hostel at Kinyangiri Secondary School in Iramba District, Singida Region; a grant ofUS$78,275to Iramba District Council.
e. The Project for Supply of a Sterilizer for CCBRT in Dar es Salaam; a grant ofUS$104,780to Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT).
The contracts for the five projects were signed between H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa, Ambassador of Japan and representatives of the respective organisations.
2. The Government of Japan has been extending support to local communities in various sectors including health, education and water supply under the GGHSP scheme.
