DoubleTree by Hilton Resort in Zanzibar announced their partnership with Sober House, a grass roots organisation in Zanzibar that supports the recovery of drug addicts and conducts community awareness and prevention.

DoubleTree by Hilton has partnered with Sober House with the aim to educate the children of Zanzibar on drug awareness and prevention.

The Sober House volunteers (many former drug addicts) will visit schools every month for the next two years and facilitate a workshop that allows the children to learn about the facts and ask questions in a safe, supported space.

Each child will receive a booklet that features a comic written by the Sober House residence as well as factual information that was approved earlier this year during a workshop hosted by DoubleTree with the Ministry of Education, The Drug Commission of Zanzibar and representatives from The Ministry of Health.

Director of Sales, DoubleTree by Hilton Florenso Kirambata said Sober House Founder Members, Suleiman Mauly and Fatma Juma should be applauded for their dedication and efforts.

Added that we are proud to empower Sober House by building their capacity to make a larger impact in the community.

DoubleTree by Hilton Regional Director Mr Judd Lehmann insisted that “we hope that our campaign throughout schools will encourage the children to say NO to drugs because they understand the consequences.”
