·         Offer to see customers receive TShs 1000 in bonus airtime on every purchase of Luku through M-pesa

·         Offer aims at enticing customers to use M-PESA to purchase Luku by rewarding them for every purchase regardless of how many transactions within a day.

·         To check bonus balance, dial *102# or *103#.

Dar es Salaam, 24th July, 2012 … Tanzania’s leading mobile phone money transfer service M-pesa has launched a new offer that will see its users receive TShs 1,000 bonus airtime every time they purchase Luku through the service and regardless of the number of transactions they perform or the value they buy on a single day.

Vodacom Tanzania said that the new airtime bonus on purchase of Luku would be available for use for two days, including the day of the recharge, and will be used for on-net calling and national SMS services.

The service which has more than doubled its presence in the country’s rural and urban dwellings will also make it easy for the customers to track their airtime balance simply by dialling *102# or*103#.

Rene Meza, Vodacom Tanzania Managing Director said the offer aims at enticing customers to use the service to purchase Luku as much as they can as part of a greater plan of positioning M-Pesa as a fast, secure and safe way of not just sending and receiving money but also paying bills such as the electricity and school fees among other services.

“It is for this reason that we reward those that buy Luku through M-PESA. We want them to continue using the service as much as they can,” says Meza, adding that those that have not made use of the service have all the reasons to do so and sample its superior offerings.

“This service is relevant to modern way of life for it saves time for individuals. I challenge those that are not using it to give it a chance. We live in a world where saving time is important,” says Meza.

The offer comes hot on the heels of yet another campaign which was launched barely a month ago that gave Vodacom Tanzania subscribers a reward of  TShs 50 bonus airtime for every M-PESA transaction.

According to Meza, Vodacom Tanzania is proud of its customers for their loyalty, and the company is determined to give them the best products and services.

Since its launch in 2008, M-PESA has played an instrumental role in changing the way money is sent, saved, and used to buy daily needs by Vodacom customers across the country. So far, Vodacom TZ boasts of over 3 million M-PESA subscribers in the country.

Over the last four years, the M-PESA mobile money solution has become ingrained in the lives of Vodacom customers. Efforts to drive access to M-Pesa services have achieved steady progress, and Vodacom has managed to build an agent network of over 25,000, effectively covering the country, and bringing access to the product closer to all customers.
