The Training Squadron of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force will visit Tanzania with three ships (KASHIMA TV-3508, SHIMAYUKI TV-3513, MATSUYUKI DD130) with about 200 trainees who graduated from the Officers School of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The ships will make a goodwill visit at the Port of Dar es Salaam from 15th to 18th August 2012, in recognition of the friendship between Japan and the United Republic of Tanzania.
This is the first time that the JAPAN SELF DEFENSE FORCES (JSDF) visits Tanzania and the Embassy of Japan would like to invite your participation in the coverage of their visit on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 August 2012. Events on the 15th will include the arrival of the 3 ships into port, welcoming events and entertainment, press interviews, plus an onboard reception in the evening.
On the 16th there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the World Wars I & II Cemetery (Makumbusho), a brass band concert at Mlimani City and an excursion to Bagamoyo to visit historical sites.
Final details of the programme will be available next week but we request you to in the meantime kindly respond via email to indicate whether you would be interested in covering this visit.
