German Ambassador hands over crime scene equipment to Tanzanian Police

The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Tanzanian police have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against organised crimes and international terrorism.

The BKA implements the common project „Police Support for East Africa”. It enfolds specific training and equipment support for the police in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda as well as seminars on different areas of modern investigative police work such as crime scene investigation. As part of the training support seminars are held in cooperation with the Police Academy of Dar es Salaam.

Also, the German Police Office delivers crucial equipment for crime scene investigation to Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. H. E. Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Klaus-Peter Brandes handed over the first part of this equipment support consisting of 20 crime scene kits to the Inspector General of the Tanzanian Police Force, Said Mwema.

Ambassador Brandes praised this project: “We would like to strengthen the good cooperation between the law enforcement authorities between Germany and Tanzania, as well as within the East African Community.” In addition, the BKA provides scholarships for the Tanzanian police in Germany since many years.

The scholarship program of the BKA constitutes a worldwide network of criminal investigators in order to foster closer cooperation among law enforcement agencies worldwide. This training by the BKA aims to familiarizing Tanzanian policemen with the instruments and methods of modern investigative work in order to significantly improve the coordinated fight against organised crime and international terrorism.
