AfricaMagic Swahili has announced that it will play tribute to popular Tanzanian actor Steven Kanumba whose tragic demise this past weekend has shocked and saddened movie fans across East Africa. As part of the memorial tribute the channel will screen a festival of his movies, beginning this weekend, as it honors his contribution to the African film landscape.
Starting on Saturday April 14 at 19:30 EAT, viewers can tune in for UNCLE JJ, followed on Sunday April 15 at 20:00 EAT by THIS IS IT (part 1 and 2). Then on Saturday April 21 at 19:30 EAT audiences can see him in MORE THAN PAIN which will be followed on Sunday April 22 by YOUNG BILLIONAIRE (part 1 and 2).
Rounding off the festival dedicated to the star will be the movie BLACK SUNDAY, to be screened on Saturday April 28 at 21:20 EAT. Applauding Kanumba for his talent, energy and determination M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi said, “We must celebrate this dynamic young man who lit up our screens and won the hearts of many. His passing is a loss to the African entertainment industry and we would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.”
